New Wave -

Remember when EDI used to be simple? You did a few 850's, sent out a
couple of 810's, maybe even an 856 with one of your more daring trading
partners, and you were a hero.
Not much has stayed the way it was ten
years ago, however, and EDI is no exception. The problem is everyone
keeps raising the bar and pretty soon the old standbys are just not
enough. But what are the new darlings of the EDI world? What are the
bench mark documents that you simply have to be doing to be somebody,

EDI & SOX -

EDI has always posed a special
challenge in Sox audits. Part of this is because the Visual Mapper
makes it so easy to modify maps and UFD’s. Generally this work is done
by a non-IT person, and because it can be done in just a few moments,
it often escapes the more formal notice of the IT Change Management
System. On top of that, you have the black box nature of Trusted
Link. We get used to not thinking about EDMAST or any of the other
files that make the system work and that is nice and comfortable, but it
also keeps us from being concerned about auditing the changes to the
files that are actually being updated by the Visual Mapper. The end
result is that many IT departments tend to gloss over Trusted Link when
it is time to do an audit, gloss over it in a way that they would not
for a regular RPG application. And TLi let you do that, it encouraged
you to think of it truly as a black box. But that is starting to
change.
