I suppose I shouldn’t complain about this, what with what’s going on in the world and all, but some things just annoy me.

I am working at a client site for a couple of weeks, something I haven’t done in a while but I made the transition from working in shorts to working in a tux and I thought things were going pretty well.

Then today I went out to grab a sandwich for lunch (so I could eat at my desk and keep working like a good little boy) and when I got back 10 minutes later – somebody had taken my parking space!

Now I want you to understand that there is no shortage of parking spaces in this lot.  Maybe there once was but after a couple of staff cutbacks, there is plenty of room.  So it wasn’t like this person had no choice.  No sir.  I can tell you exactly what happened here – they deliberately parked in my space.

That’s right.  And it wasn’t a case of ‘oh, I thought this was my – 17th car from the building in a row of 43’.  Uh, uh.  I was parked right at the end of the row, so you had to make a very tight circle to get in from the drive.

And it wasn’t like this was the end of the row near the building either which might have been irresistible to some energy challenged individual.

No, I don’t care how you spin this one – this parking was deliberate.  Did they think I wasn’t coming back?  Did they think I wouldn’t notice that my spot was now full?  Did they think I was dead?   I don’t care what end of the political spectrum you’re on, when you leave for lunch, you park in the dadgum spot that you pulled out of.  You go home for the night and the magic’s over, but you retain possession of that spot over lunch!  I don’t know what this person was thinking but I plan to be there tonight when they come out and get ready to go home.  They owe me an explanation!  And an apology!!  Parking in someone else’s spot.  You let that go and pretty soon you got open marriages and teenagers having sex before they get married.  I’ve got standards, you know.
