I work out of my home.
Technically, my office is in the basement.
I never work there. Too much like being in a cave, and after having spent a good part of my corporate existance in windowless cubicles and offices, I just can’t take it anymore.Â
So, most of the time, I set up shop at our kitchen table.Â
And my favorite time of the year is fall. When I can look out of the window to my left and see the trees at the end of our street slowly turning from green to gold. That is when I know that fall is here and the long hot summer is behind me.Â
It’s a weird thing, but my brain contracts in the heat. It physically gets smaller and less effective. I don’t tell my clients this. What would the point of that be? But it’s true.Â
And then in the fall, as the cooler temperatures arrive, my brain resumes it’s normal shape and I begin to think better.Â
And so, today, I sit here, looking out at the trees that are just starting to turn golden, and I feel good. Hope you do too.
